What Is LottoShield Lite and How Does It Work?

LottoShield Lite is a lottery management tool designed to help convenience stores and other lottery retailers accurately track scratcher ticket inventory, eliminate paper logs, manage backstock, and identify missing packs. The system provides a detailed daily accounting of every ticket that leaves your scratcher display case—along with its dollar value—so you can easily reconcile your lottery sales, whether you’re using a POS system or a simple cash box. Each day, LottoShield Lite sends you an email summary giving a clear overview of your store’s lottery activity from the prior day.

LottoShield Lite streamlines your lottery management through a few simple processes that track tickets in your display case, backstock, and vending machines.


Display Case

To monitor your display case ticket movement, LottoShield Lite offers a mobile application that scans the barcode of each pack in your display case. Similar to a traditional paper log, the app uses the starting and ending ticket numbers from each pack to calculate how many tickets have been sold or removed since the last audit.

The system compiles this information and presents it with all the math done for you. What once took 10–15 minutes per shift now takes just seconds from start to finish. The process is simple for cashiers to follow and allows you to redirect their time toward more profitable tasks.


Backstock

Tracking your backstock is essential for securing your scratcher inventory, and LottoShield Lite supports this in two key ways:

  1. State Lottery Integration (if offered by your state):
    Through integration with your state lottery system, LottoShield Lite provides detailed, real-time information on the status of every scratcher pack—from issuance by the state office to confirmation, activation, and settlement. These updates are continuously recorded within the system.

  2. Physical Backstock Audits:
    To add an extra layer of protection, LottoShield Lite verifies the physical presence of your packs through backstock audits. Using the mobile app, you simply scan the first barcode of each pack—typically once a day or once a week. If a pack is activated but not scanned in the display case or vending machine, LottoShield Lite automatically flags it as missing in your daily email report.


Vending Machines

For retailers who use vending machines, LottoShield Lite ensures accurate tracking of packs placed in those machines. If a pack were activated and placed into a vending machine without proper tracking, it would normally appear as missing in the LottoShield portal. To prevent this, the mobile app includes a dedicated feature to record when packs move from backstock into a vending machine, ensuring your inventory records remain complete and accurate.
