When Should I Audit My Backstock?

Backstock Audits

Tracking your back stock is an essential part of LottoShield Pro. This process allows you to know exactly where all of your scratcher packs are at any given time.

Through LottoShield’s state lottery integration, we automatically add newly issued packs to your backstock in the LottoShield portal.

LottoShield also adds a second layer of protection by tracking the physical presence of packs through Backstock Audits, performed with the LottoShield mobile app.

When Should You Perform Backstock Audits?

The ideal frequency of backstock audits depends on several factors, including:

  • How much access there is to your back stock

  • Where your packs are stored

  • Whether you’ve had issues with missing or misplaced packs in the past

  • What audit routines you already have in place

Recommended Audit Frequency

  • Daily Audits:
Many lottery retailers already perform daily backstock audits—and should continue doing so. This offers the highest level of protection for your lottery inventory, and with LottoShield, these audits take only a few minutes to complete.

  • Weekly Audits:
For stores that haven’t previously tracked backstock, LottoShield recommends performing at least one backstock audit per week.

Note: Be sure to scan every pack in your backstock when performing an audit. Any packs that are not scanned will be flagged as missing by LottoShield.

Pro Tip

If auditing weekly, conduct your backstock audit on your lottery delivery day. This allows you to confirm all new packs at the terminal and then perform a complete audit of both new and existing packs at the same time.
