🟢 Inventory Scans & Audits
-
Perform an audit at the start of every employee shift, at midday or shift changes, and before closing the POS day report.
-
The end-of-day inventory scan is critical:
-
For non-24-hour stores, perform the scan at least 10 minutes before closing the POS day report.
-
For 24-hour stores, perform the scan 10 minutes before the POS automatic day close.
-
For stores that close earlier (e.g., 10:00 PM) but have an automatic day close later (e.g., 2:00 AM), the scan should be performed at store closing (10:00 PM).
-
-
Do not sell any scratchers during scans.
-
Scan all tickets in display cases. Double scans are fine—the system will notify you if already scanned.
-
Submit scans immediately after completion so they post to your account.
🚫 Important Note
If you start an audit or inventory scan and cannot finish, do not leave the scanner idle and try to resume later.
This will cause data errors and inventory discrepancies.
✅ Always back out of the scan and restart later when you have enough time to complete it fully.
🟢 Newly Activated Packs
-
You do not need to scan newly activated packs when adding them to the display.
-
If scanning for inventory, scan all packs in the display or do not scan at all.
🟢 Register Clock
-
Always ensure your POS clock is accurate.
-
Incorrect time stamps lead to shortages and overages in LottoShield.
🟢 Ticket Order
-
Keep all packs running in the same direction (lowest to highest or vice versa).
-
Never sell tickets out of numerical sequence.
-
Even if a customer requests a specific number, selling out of order will create overages that later offset with shortages.
-
🟢 Backstock Audits
-
Perform a Backstock Audit daily or at least weekly.
-
Use the LottoShield Mobile App or the All-in-One Scanner.
-
Watch our Backstock Audit Video for step-by-step instructions.
🟢 Lottery Vending Machine Stores
-
Stores with Lottery Vending Machines should contact LottoShield for the best reconciliation process.
