❗ Follow these instructions carefully. They are super simple and will get you great results.
- When doing an inventory scan, DO NOT sell any scratchers until the scan is completely done. This will cause a shortage or overage.
-
When doing an inventory scan, make sure to SCAN All the tickets in the display case(s). Scanning tickets again is okay. The screen on the scanner should tell you if the pack has already been scanned or not. Make sure you submit your scans before moving on so they post to your account. Never start scanning then put down the scanner and scan again minutes/hours later. Just back out of the scan if you can't finish and start over later
- You DO NOT need to scan a newly activated pack when adding it to the display. If you decide that you ever want to scan a pack for inventory purposes, scan all the packs in the display case, or don’t scan at all.
- Make sure the Clock on your register is correct.
- We highly recommend doing an audit at the beginning of each employees shift.
- Make sure packs are all running in the same direction. If you sell tickets from lowest ticket number then all new packs added to the display should start on the lowest number. Same for the opposite direction.
- Don't sell tickets out of numerical sequence. Customers may ask for a specific ticket number at times. Selling out of numerical order will cause overages then eventually should offset with shortages.
- End of day inventory scan is very important. Employee should scan tickets with the LottoShield scanner before closing the register day report.
- If store closes at 2am then end of day inventory should be done at least 10 minutes before the register day close.
- If POS set up to automatically close at a specific time:
- 24hr store should do the End of day inventory scan before the register day close automatically closes
- If day close is set to close at 2am but store closes at 10pm then End of day inventory scan can be done at 1opm.
- Perform BackStock audit at least once a day. If that is not possible at least every other day or once a week. This can be done with our LottoShield mobile app or upgrading to our all in one scanner. Go straight to our backstock audit video to learn more
- Lottery Vending machine stores - should only scans when adding new packs to the vending machine. If you are closing the shift report on the vending machine you should scan the current ticket in each bin for inventory purposes. Video coming soon!
